MTS to end sale of contracts at Svyaznoy from August 23 - retailer

MOSCOW. June 24 (Interfax) - Handset retailer Svyaznoy has received notification from Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) that the "big three" mobile operator will annul its sales agreement effective from August 23, 2015.

"Beginning with that date, we will have to halt sale of subscriber contracts with that operator," Svyaznoy CEO Michael Tuch is quoted in a Svyaznoy press release as saying.

MTS announced last week that it might end its commercial arrangement with Svyaznoy any say, because in recent times - since Oleg Malis acquired control of the company - sales via Svyaznoy locations have fallen 80%. MTS will comment on the situation later on Wednesday, a company representative told Interfax.

Svyaznoy retains its partnerships with the other two "big three" mobile operators, MegaFon and Vimpelcom , and with Tele2, which announced it would entire the Moscow market before the end of 2015, Svyaznoy said.
