Facilities being created in Arctic with regard to upcoming military, security threats faced by Russia - Shoigu
MOSCOW. June 24 (Interfax-AVN) - The federal target investment program, under which capital construction is being conducted, is aimed at creating special facilities with regard to the new security threats to Russia, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.
"Bearing in mind the existing and prospective challenges and threats to the country's military security and the current macroeconomic indicators, we are focusing on the creation of special military-purpose facilities, including in the Arctic zone, coastal infrastructure, aerodrome network, and basic military cities, Shoigu told the Defense Ministry collegium.
Shoigu said efforts are also being directed at the construction of service housing and social infrastructure facilities, educational and healthcare establishments, and sanatoriums.
"For these purposes, the Defense Ministry's object-by-object capital construction list has been approved this year, which links the decisions that have been made to the funding provided," the minister said.
