Ukrainian army observes 30 bombardments of its positions on Wednesday evening

KYIV. June 25 (Interfax) - The militia shelled Ukrainian army positions over 30 times from Wednesday evening till midnight, the army operation press center reported on Thursday morning.

According to the report, tensions escalated most near Mariupol. Ukrainian army positions near Shyrokyne and Talakivka came under intense fire of 152mm howitzers. 122mm artillery guns bombarded Berdyansk, the press center claimed. Besides, Shyrokyne was shelled by small arms, grenade launchers, and man-portable Grad-P rocket launchers.

"Militants fired 120mm mortars on Pisky and Opytne, and incendiary mines also blasted there," says the report posted on the press center's page on Facebook.

Leninske and Kirove in the Artemivsk area and Shchastya and Stanitsa Luhanska in the Luhansk region were attacked by heavy mortars too.

In all, the operation press center observed 43 cases of the militia's use of firearms over the past day.

It reported shelling of Shyrokyne, Krasnohorivka and Berdianske observed from midnight till Thursday morning.
