Case of Makhachkala resident accused of participation in terrorist organization referred to court
MOSCOW. June 25 (Interfax) - A resident of Makhachkala affiliated to a radical Islamist organization will stand trial on the counts of recruitment of potential terrorists, the Prosecutor General's Office press service said on Thursday.
"The Prosecution Service of the Republic of Dagestan has sent to the North Caucasus District Military Court the criminal case of 30-year-old Makhachkala resident Shamil Omarov. The man is accused of several felonies, including participation in the activity of a terrorist organization and recruitment," the report said.
Detectives say Omarov was a member of the Dagestani terrorist organization Islamic Liberation Party (Hizb-ut-Tahrir al-Islami) in the period from August 2008 till December 2013.
"The man involved new persons in the activity of the organization and preached a negative attitude to the state structure of the Russian Federation," the office said.
