Armenian soldier killed in border armed clash with Azerbaijan - Armenian Defense Ministry
YEREVAN. June 26 (Interfax) - An Armenian military serviceman was killed as Azerbaijan violated a ceasefire in the Naxcivan section of the border on Friday evening, Armenian Defense Ministry press secretary Artsrun Ovannisian said.
"The Azeri armed forces violated the ceasefire on the Naxcivan section of the border with Armenia, targeting Armenian positions near the village of Gorkhaik, the Syunik region, at 6:30 p.m. today. The Armenian side did all it could to maintain stability on the border, but Azerbaijan is once again resorting to acts of provocation," Ovannisian said on Facebook.
The Azeri armed forces used large-caliber weapons, he said.
"After Armenia returned fire, the enemy sustained heavy losses. Pvt. Arman Yepremian, a contract military serviceman born in 1987, died in the fighting," he said.
