Armenian govt to take on 'burden of electricity price hikes' until company audit is over - president
YEREVAN. June 27 (Interfax) - The Armenian government will take on the 'burden of the increased prices' for electricity until an audit of the Electric Networks of Armenia company is completed, the country's President Serzh Sargsyan has said.
"I suggest selecting an authoritative international consulting company, which has vast experience in the energy sector, and ask it to answer the following questions with the involvement of an audit company - how advisable is it to raise electricity prices and what threats may the energy system encounter if the tariffs are not increased?", the president said at a meeting with officials responsible for Armenia's energy policy.
"I am convinced that it would be extremely dangerous to annul the decision on electricity price hikes. That is why the government will take on the entire burden of the increase in the tariffs until this company compiles its conclusion," he said.
