Russia plans to test-fire several Bulava missiles before yearend

ST. PETERSBURG. July 1 (Interfax-AVN) - A number of test-launches of the brand new strategic missile Bulava are planned before the end of this year, a source in the Russian Navy headquarters has told Interfax-AVN.

"The launches will be done according to the plan. In all, several launches will be performed before the end of this year," the source said.

It was reported earlier that the next launch of the intercontinental ballistic missile Bulava scheduled for late September of this year will be performed for the first time from the Sea of Okhotsk towards the Chizha range in the Arkhangelsk region.

R30 3M30 Bulava is Russia's brand new three-stage solid-fuel missile built for prospective nuclear-powered strategic missile submarines of Project Borei.

The missile can have up to ten hypersonically maneuverable, individually targeting nuclear warheads that can change their trajectory by altitude and course and hit targets of a radius of up to 8,000 kilometers. Bulava will be the core of the prospective strategic nuclear forces of Russia in the period until 2040-2045.
