Moscow accuses Helsinki of tough interpretation of EU sanctions

MOSCOW. July 1 (Interfax) - The Russian Foreign Ministry is surprised by the link made by Helsinki between the organization of a visiting session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and sanction lists of the European Union which led to a ban on entry to the head of Russia's delegation to it Sergei Naryshkin and five other Russian participants.

"We don't understand why Helsinki needed to launch the mechanism of authorization through the European Union. Even if the EU sanction decisions with which we disagree in principle are taken, they were interpreted by Helsinki in the toughest possible way," Director of the Second European Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry Igor Neverov told Interfax.
