Shyrokyne totally quiet - JCCC
KYIV. July 2 (Interfax) - The armed groups fighting against Ukrainian government forces have left the village of Shyrokyne (Donetsk Region) and occupied positions east of the town, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said on its website, citing data from the Joint Center for Control and Coordination (JCCC).
On Thursday, JCCC monitors observed no shelling of Shyrokyne during the daytime, the ministry said. They also confirmed the militias' withdrawal from Shyrokyne, which lasted from the night until the morning of July 2. Now the militias have occupied pre-prepared positions east of Shyrokyne, near the villages of Sakhanka and Bezymennoye.
"There is now a complete lull in Shyrokyne. It is expected that the OSCE SMM and the Joint Center will set up a permanent observation post in this town very soon," the ministry said.
