LPR head schedules local elections for November 1

LUHANSK. July 6 (Interfax) - The self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) is planned to elect mayors and district heads on November 1, LPR head Igor Plotnitsky has said.

"I am scheduling elections of the heads of towns and districts in the Luhansk People's Republic for November 1, 2015," the Luhansk information center quoted an official statement by Plotnitsky as saying on Monday.

"I am requesting access and appropriate conditions for work of international observers," Plotnitsky said.

He said the local elections would implement the Minsk agreements.

"Ukraine is unilaterally passing a law On Local Elections, without coordinating it with the LPR and the DPR, and the content of this [law] contradicts the letter and the spirit of the Minsk agreements," the LPR leader said.
