Kyiv doubled its troops along contact line after ceasefire was declared in Donbas - DPR

DONETSK. July 6 (Interfax) - The number of Ukrainian troops deployed along the contact line has doubled after the ceasefire was declared, Eduard Basurin, a senior official with the DPR Defense Ministry, said.

The number of Ukrainian troops along the contact line may reach 60,000, he said.

"By outward indications, the number of Ukrainian troops may be the number that was voiced by Poroshenko," Basurin told reporters on Monday.

There were twice as few Ukrainian troops in the in the military operation area before the ceasefire was declared, Basurin said, noting that the number of Ukrainian troops there has continued to grow.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko earlier said that 60,000 Ukrainian troops had been deployed along the contact line.
