Space sector sites in Crimea to be restored - Rogozin
MOSCOW. July 8 (Interfax-AVN) - Space sector infrastructure in Crimea is 'shabby'; it must be restored, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said on Wednesday.
"We have studied the matter together with the Roscosmos administration and even visited the area [Crimea]. The condition is shabby. Everything they had in Crimea was not cared for," Rogozin said, answering a question as to whether authorities planned to use space sector facilities in Crimea.
"We have an understanding that they need to be restored," Rogozin said while presenting a draft law on the Roscosmos state corporation at the Federation Council.
There is a cosmonaut rehabilitation center and a center studying deep space which possess unique competences, among them deterrence of the asteroid threat, in Crimea, Rogozin said.
Budget allocations for these purposes will be planned after the elaboration of a federal space program for the period after 2016 and its approval by government, he said.
