Putin and Zuma discuss nuclear power engineering issues
UFA. July 8 (Interfax) - The subject of nuclear power engineering was discussed at a meeting of the presidents of Russia and South Africa Vladimir Putin and Jacob Zuma, press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov said.
"Both sides singled out as a priority the launch of a program of developing nuclear power engineering in which Russia naturally has a serious potential for cooperation," he said to reporters commenting on the contents of the meeting of the two presidents.
The presidents also discussed the development of humanitarian exchanges.
Peskov said that the volume of Russia's trade and economic cooperation with South Africa like with many other countries tended to shrink during the past year.
Peskov quoted statistics according to which South African trade turnover in January-April this year contracted by almost 17%. "The leaders of Russia and South Africa spoke specifically of the necessary measures that have to be taken to amend the situation," Peskov said.
