Putin: BRICS labor and employment ministers to hold first conference in Jan 2016

UFA. July 9 (Interfax) - The first conference of BRICS labor and employment ministers will be held in January 2016 at Russia's initiative, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with the leaders of BRICS trade unions.

"This meeting will be dedicated to the creation of quality jobs, the boosting of labor mobility and the adjustment of social integration processes," he said.

Group member countries have made tangible progress in the fulfillment of key tasks designated by them, Putin said. For instance, BRICS countries are leaders in terms of reducing unemployment rates, which is a most important criterion of economic efficiency worldwide. Also, BRICS is working on the reduction of so-called undeclared employment and the creation of jobs.

Still, a lot has yet to be done, and governments, trade unions and employers need to pool efforts in order to improve labor market regulation and protect the interests and rights of working people, he said.
