Russia to fulfill 2015 military satellite launch program despite sanctions - Defense Ministry
MOSCOW. July 9 (Interfax) - Russia will fulfill the 2015 program of military satellite launches even despite sanctions imposed on it, says Russian Deputy Defense Minister Yury Borisov.
"Current obligations with the cosmonauts are being fulfilled in principle. Even though there are some risks, it looks like so far that the launch program for this year should be fulfilled," Borisov said at an annual meeting with the chiefs of the defense industry's trade union organizations on Thursday.
The military space sector is especially susceptible to external factors, including the sanctions that have been imposed on Russia, he said.
"Our Achilles' heel is radiation-proof hardware components, which are a principal factor affecting the creation and launch of relevant systems," he added.
