Residents from Donetsk settlement evacuated to blast sounds

DONETSK. July 10 (Interfax) - People evacuated from the Oktyabrsky settlement in the eastern Ukrainian city of Donetsk that was shelled on Friday were accommodated at a dormitory in the center of the city, the local authorities said.

"Today 41 people were evacuated from the Oktyabrsky settlement. All of them were accommodated at a dormitory in the center of the city," head of a department in the executive committee of the Kuibyshevsky district in Donetsk Olga Klimenko said.

A total 84 have already been evacuated from Oktyabrsky, she said. "More than 500 applied for resettlement," Klimenko said.

Heavy gun shell blasts were heard at the moment of evacuation about 1.5 kilometers away from the settlement.

Representatives of the militia also said that the Oktyabrsky settlement again came under gun fire overnight.

"We have counted five shell explosions for the past night. There is some destruction in the private sector of the Oktyabrsky settlement. Houses were damaged in Kovalko Street," the militia representative of the self-proclaimed Donetsk Republic told reporters.
