Putin controlling barrack collapse situation, Shoigu makes regular reports - Peskov

MOSCOW. July 13 (Interfax) - Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu regularly reports to President Vladimir Putin about measures taken in connection with the tragedy in the Omsk region where servicemen died, Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov has said.

"Indeed, the tragedy which has happened and caused the death of a large number of servicemen is an event that will definitely stay under the control of the head of state," Peskov told reporters on Monday.

The Defense Ministry is doing everything necessary with respect to rescue work, inquiries into the cause of this event and the prevention of similar accidents in the future, he said.

"The minister has been making regular reports on these issues to the president and the supreme commander-in-chief over the past 24 hours," Peskov said.
