Putin supports as few restrictions in internet as possible
DVORIKI, Vladimir region. July 14 (Interfax) - Restrictions in the internet should be minimal, it is not necessary to ban something but to advance own stance, Russian President Vladimir Putin said when talking to participants of Territory of Terra Scientia International youth forum.
"You know, we have a very cautious attitude to this problem and we think, and I personally think, that restrictions should be minimal - they should be related solely to defending interests of society in general," Putin said.
At the same time, the state has the right and it should defend itself and certain steps are being taken in some European countries, the Russian president said. "We do not plan any other restrictions. You know it seems to me that in order to protect our people, especially young people from unfavorable or hostile influence - which is quite possible, it is necessary not to ban reading, watching or listening to something but it is necessary to promote our position actively," Putin said.
This is needed "so that our people are prepared to receiving information and can respond harshly, timely, nicely and with talent," the Russian president said.
