High-ranking U.S., EU diplomats attend Rada session dealing with constitutional amendments on decentralization
KYIV. July 16 (Interfax) - U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland arrived at the session hall of the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada on Thursday.
She took a seat in a guest box on the second tier over the main hall, along with Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Jan Tombinski, U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt, and members of diplomatic and business circles.
Journalists also saw Ukrainian presidential press secretary Svyatoslav Tseholko in the session hall.
A parliamentary source had told Interfax earlier that President Petro Poroshenko planned to arrive at the Rada later on Thursday.
"It is planned that the head of state will be present at the session hall when deputies are to consider whether to refer the bill on amending the Ukrainian constitution regarding decentralization [of the national governance system] to the Constitutional Court," the source said.
