Tusk expects another step to be made in coming months towards visa-free travel between EU, Armenia
BRUSSELS. July 20 (Interfax) - Introduction of visa-free travel is the final goal of the dialogue on easing travel between the EU and Armenia, European Council President Donald Tusk said in Yerevan on Monday following talks with Armenian President Serzh Sargsian.
Easing travel between Armenia and the EU is one of the most important sectors of cooperation, Tusk said.
Efficient execution of agreements on readmission and the easing of travel regulations, which came into effect in January 2014, is a key condition to start talks on visa liberalization, Tusk said.
The final goal is the introduction of visa-free travel and it is hoped that the next step will be made in the coming months if the current speed is maintained, Tusk was quoted as saying by the European Council press office.
This week Tusk is visiting Armenia and Georgia, which are part of the EU program Eastern Partnership, the press office said.
