Searches conducted at United Shipbuilding Corporation, several employees detained

MOSCOW. July 21 (Interfax-AVN) - Several employees of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) and enterprises comprising it have been detained as part of an anticorruption campaign, USC spokesman Roman Chernigovtsev told Interfax on Tuesday.

"The Russian FSB [Federal Security Service], in collaboration with the corporation, conducted procedures today to detain a number of employees of USC and enterprises belonging to the corporation. Searches were conducted at the workplaces of these employees with the purpose of confiscating documents and materials proving unlawful activities. A criminal case has been opened based on the results of the procedures under [Russian Criminal Code] Article 159 Part 4 [fraud]," Chernigovtsev said.

"The offences dating back to the 2011-2012 period are related to procurement activities during the maintenance of military hardware," he said.

"Investigators are working with the suspects within the framework of the Russian Criminal Procedure Code," he said.

"USC regularly conducts relevant internal procedures aimed at minimizing the level of corruption and other offences committed by employees in performing their duties," he said.
