Baku, Sepanakert claim truce violations along Karabakh contact line
BAKU/YEREVAN. July 23 (Interfax) - The defense ministries of Azerbaijan and the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic claimed on Thursday numerous ceasefire violations committed along the contact line over the past day.
The Armenian Armed Forces violated the ceasefire along the contact line with Azerbaijani servicemen 85 times, the press service of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry has said.
It said Armenian troops attacked Azerbaijani positions in the villages of Kheyrimli and Qaymaql? in the Qazax district of Azerbaijan from the Dovekh and Berdavan villages of the Noemberian district of Armenia.
The gunfire was coming from Armenian positions on unnumbered hills in the Goranboy, Khojavend, Fuzuli and Jabrayil districts of Azerbaijan.
The fire was returned and the enemy was suppressed, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said.
In turn, the press service of the Defense Ministry of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic told Interfax that the Azerbaijani Armed Forces committed about 130 violations of the truce on July 22 and in the small hours of Thursday.
It said over 1,500 shots were fired from weapons with various calibers, including mortars and grenade launchers, on Armenian positions.
"Frontline units are in control of the operative situation and take countermeasures whenever necessary," the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic's Defense Ministry said.
