Impossible to resolve Ukrainian crisis without Kyiv establishing direct dialogue with Donbas - Putin

MOSCOW. July 24 (Interfax) - In a phone call with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Francois Hollande and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, Russian President Vladimir Putin reiterated that it would be impossible to settle the crisis in Ukraine if Kyiv did not establish direct dialogue with representatives of Donbas.

"Putin stressed once again that a lasting and comprehensive settlement of the internal Ukrainian crisis would be impossible without Kyiv establishing direct dialogue with representatives of Donbas. The president of Russia called on the Ukrainian side to strictly abide by the letter and spirit of the Minsk set of measures," the Kremlin press service reported.
