Azerbaijani defense minister checks battle readiness of new naval base
BAKU. July 24 (Interfax) - Azerbaijani Defense Minister, Colonel General Zakir Gasanov has checked the battle readiness of warships and personnel of a new naval base, the Defense Ministry press office said.
Shakhin Mamedov, acting naval forces head, 1st class captain, reported to the defense minister the general readiness of the ships and the current situation in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea.
Gasanov met with a command squad to gather and analyze information and to make a relevant decision.
The defense minister also inspected ships, studied their technical and tactical characteristics and their arms and means to fight the enemy.
Gasanov has also checked the readiness of two guard ships and rescue tugs and their personnel for the coming competitions Caspian Sea 2015, taking place near Makhachkala port between August 1 and August 15.
The minister gave orders on the further increasing of battle readiness of the naval forces.
