Putin thanks Blatter for being focused on political component, despite events taking place around football

STRELNA. July 25 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has thanked FIFA President Joseph Blatter for focusing on sports issues despite everything "that is happening around football."

During a meeting with Blatter in St. Petersburg on Saturday before the European 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying draw in the Konstantinovsky Palace, Putin said: "We see what is happening around football. But I know how you feel about it. We are thankful to you for focusing our time and attention on sport above everything."
