Russian deputy foreign minister, Arab League representative discuss situation in Middle East, Northern Africa
MOSCOW. July 30 (Interfax) - Mikhail Bogdanov, Russian deputy foreign minister and presidential special envoy on the Middle East and African states, and Jalal Mashta, Arab League ambassador to Russia, have discussed issues relating to the strengthening of interaction between Russia and the Arab League.
"The meeting addressed issues relating to the strengthening of interaction between Russia and the Arab League, including within the framework of the Russian-Arab cooperation forum," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a report posted on its website.
The ministry said the meeting participants had exchanged opinions on "the current situation in the Middle East and Northern Africa, including in the context of the events taking place in Syria, Libya and Yemen."
The Russian Foreign Ministry said the meeting was on Mashta's initiative.
Bogdanov has also met with Oman's Ambassador to Russia Yousuf Issa Ali Al Zadjali. The meeting addressed the crisis in Yemen.
"The meeting participants exchanged opinions on the situation in the Middle East with an emphasis on the need for a prompt solution to the crisis in Yemen," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
