Russian grain exports drop 44% in July - ministry

MOSCOW. Aug 3 (Interfax) - Russia exported 1.598 million tonnes of grain in the period from July 1 to 29, down 43.5% from 2.827 million tonnes in the same period of last year, the Agriculture Ministry reported, citing the latest figures from the Federal Customs Service.

This included 1.167 million tonnes of wheat, despite the fact that as of July 1 wheat is subject to an export duty of 50% of the customs value minus 5,500 rubles, but not less than 50 rubles per tonne.

Russia also exported 306,000 tonnes of corn, 99,000 tonnes of barley and 26,000 tonnes of other crops in July.
