Russian team so far leading in International Army Games overall ranking
MOSCOW. Aug 5 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia is leading in the International Army Games after three days of competition, the Games' chief referee Maj. Gen. Dmitry Gorbatenko told reporters on Wednesday.
"After three days and the results that have been achieved, we can sum up the preliminary results in the nations' rating. Today, Russia holds the leading position, China is in second place and the Republic of Belarus is in third," Gorbatenko said.
In particular, in the Airborne Platoon competition, in terms of time the Russians are so far behind the Chinese troops, with the trio rounded off by the Belarusian military team. In the Safe Environment competition, Russia is in first place, Belarus in second and China in third.
Today, five competitions - the Tank Biathlon, Army Reconnaissance A-Graders, the Caspian Cup, the Caspian Derby and Aviadarts - are still in the first stage, the general said. The rest are getting ready for their next stages. Today saw the start of the third crews' qualifying rounds in the Tank Biathlon. "In all, we have 12 open competitions out of 14. Two have yet to open - the Masters of Air Defense Battle, on August 8, and the Masters of Armored Automobile Vehicles, on August 7," Gorbatenko said.
