UK-Russian relationship lacks joint agenda - Russian Ambassador to UK
MOSCOW. Aug 5 (Interfax) - Relations between Moscow and London lack a serious joint agenda, unlike the Russian-American relationship which has one, differences notwithstanding, Russian Ambassador to the United Kingdom Alexander Yakovenko said.
"With the U.S. we retain a serious joint agenda, and both countries understand that, although our views often diverge. That is not the case with London. It hurts the economy, even our cultural ties," Yakovenko said in an interview with the Kommersant daily.
"Political contacts between our countries have been extremely limited, cooperation in tackling global foreign-policy issues is sporadic," he said.
"Sooner or later this was bound to affect our visa relations too," the ambassador said.
