Ukraine starts routine maintenance at Khmelnytsky NPP first reactor unit
KYIV. Aug 10 (Interfax) - The first reactor unit of the Khmelnitsky nuclear power plant was disconnected from the national power grid at 00:13 a.m. on August 8 for 52-day routine maintenance, the power plant press service has reported.
As of Monday morning, ten out of 15 reactor units of Ukraine's operating nuclear power plants were at work. It is the 93rd day of scheduled capital repairs of the second reactor unit of the South Ukrainian nuclear power plant, the 65th day of scheduled medium repairs of the fourth reactor unit of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, the 27th day of scheduled medium repairs of the first reactor unit of the South Ukrainian nuclear power plant, and the 21st day of scheduled medium repairs of the fourth reactor unit of the Rivne nuclear power plant.
Radiation, fire safety and environmental protection levels are normal on the premises of all nuclear power plants in the country.
The Khmelnytsky nuclear power plant is situated in the city of Netishyn in the Khmelnytsky region. It operates two VVER-1000 reactor units with an overall capacity of 2000 megawatts.
Energoatom operates all four operating nuclear power plants in Ukraine: the Zaporizhzhya, South Ukrainian, Rivne and Khmelnytsky power plants with 15 pressurized water reactors with a total electrical capacity of 13,835 megawatts.
