Russia bans imports of Polish sprats - Rospotrebnadzor
MOSCOW. Aug 13 (Interfax) - The Russian consumer rights watchdog Rospotrebnadzor has imposed a ban on imports of canned sprats from Poland to Russia's market.
"Starting from August 14, 2015, Rospotrebnadzor suspends imports of Polish canned fish - sprats - to the territory of the Russian Federation," the watchdog's press service told Interfax on Thursday.
The relevant information has already been forwarded to the Federal Customs Service and the Rospotrebnadzor departments in Russia's regions, it said.
Repeated inspections of canned fish products, 'Sprats in olive oil' with lowered benzopyrene levels, manufactured by Poland's company Graal SA, have detected breaches of consumer rights laws, the press service said.
In particular, this canned fish fails to meet organoleptic requirements, and the information on can labels disagrees with the actual nutritional and energy value of the aforementioned canned fish products, as well as their content of polyunsaturated fatty acids, Rospotrebnadzor said.
