Syrian National Coalition to agree with Iran's involvement in settlement after it pulls out forces from Syria, recognizes Geneva communique

MOSCOW. Aug 13 (Interfax) - Iran's involvement in settling the conflict in Syria and in combating terrorism is possible only after Iran withdraws its forces from the country and recognizes the Geneva communique, says Badr Jamous, a member of the political bureau of the National Coalition for Syrian Opposition and Revolutionary Forces.

"We don't object, but Iran should recognize the Geneva communique and withdraw its armed units from the Syrian territory," Jamous, who is visiting Moscow as part of a delegation to hold talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, told Interfax on Thursday.

Iran earlier offered its participation in the Geneva conferences on settling the crisis in Syria, he said.

To oppose terrorism, a provisional government body in Syria should be set up first, he said.

"Without this and without Bashar al-Assad's stepping down, it is impossible to fight terrorism. Assad is Syria's main problem," he said.
