Russian deputy foreign minister, Syrian ambassador discuss intl efforts against terrorism

MOSCOW. Aug 14 (Interfax) - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and special presidential representative for the Middle East and African countries Mikhail Bogdanov and Syrian Ambassador to Russia Riad Haddad discussed the need for international consolidation to combat terrorism.

"During the conversation, [Bogdanov and Haddad] exchanged opinions on the development of the situation in Syria, with an emphasis placed on the need for consolidation of international and regional efforts in combating terrorists from Islamic State and other extremist groups," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement posted on its website.

Bogdanov also informed Haddad on consultations with members of various Syrian opposition groups, which are currently taking place in Moscow, the Foreign Ministry said.
