Court will likely postpone Vasilyeva parole hearing - source

MOSCOW. Aug 20 (Interfax) - A decision on the parole request made by former Defense Ministry official Yevgenia Vasilyeva, which is to be considered by a court in the Vladimir region, will most likely not be made on August 21, a source with knowledge on the matter told Interfax.

"The court hearing will probably be rescheduled for technical reasons. Consequently, a decision on the parole request will be made later," the source said.

The source said that, despite the fact that Vasilyeva has fully compensated for the damage to the victims, has served more than half of her term (five years in confinement) and has received from the colony administration a characteristic stating that she has no disciplinary record, "there are still certain problems with the issue of granting parole to Vasilyeva."

The source said the Moscow City Court will consider an appeal filed by the other people implicated in the Oboronservice case on the same day, on Friday.

"There may be some discrepancies associated with the coming into legal force of the sentence handed out by the Moscow Presnensky District Court," the source said.
