Friendly visit of Russian warships to Baku set to boost ties in Caspian Sea - ministry
MOSCOW. Aug 20 (Interfax-AVN) - A visit of the Caspian Flotilla's warships to the port of Baku on August 13-16 is a new example of Russian-Azerbaijani co-operation, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"The visit of Russian warships to Baku that was held exclusively in a friendly atmosphere sets a new example of growing Russian-Azerbaijani interaction in the Caspian Sea," it said in a statement posted on the website of the top diplomatic agency.
The Russian Foreign Ministry recalled that the Caspian Flotilla's squadron of Volgodonsk and Makhachkala small artillery gunships and the Anatoly Guzhvin hydrographical vessel made a visit to the port of Baku on August 13-16.
The diplomatic agency said that Azerbaijani naval command and representatives of local authorities had contact with the command of the naval squadron. The warships also held events for the diplomatic corps and the public.
