Thousand infantrymen practicing deterrence of superior hostile force in North Ossetia
MOSCOW. Aug 26 (Interfax-AVN) - Some thousand infantrymen will practice the deterrence of a superior force of a simulated enemy in North Ossetia, the Russian Defense Ministry has said.
"According to the drills scenario, a motorized infantry battalion was alerted and marched to an area of operation of sabotage and reconnaissance groups of a simulated enemy," says a report of the Southern Military District press service seen by Interfax-AVN on Wednesday.
During the drills, the infantrymen "will repel an attack of a superior force of a simulated enemy by use of unmanned aerial vehicles," it said.
Over 1,000 servicemen and 300 units of military hardware are participating in the exercises, the district staff has said.
