CSTO Interaction 2015 drills to practice joint operation to contain simulated 'armed conflict'
MOSCOW. Aug 26 (Interfax) - The Command of the CSTO Rapid Reaction Force has decided to hold a joint operation to contain a simulated 'armed conflict' at the Interaction 2015 drills, the CSTO secretariat said in a statement received by Interfax on Wednesday.
The first stage of the Interaction 2015 joint war games to organize the holding of a joint operation that lasted two days ended on August 26, it said.
"The issues of decision-making by the CSTO Rapid Reaction Force commander for a joint operation, operation planning and the organizing of interaction, comprehensive provision and control during a joint operation, as well as the preparation of the CSTO Rapid Reaction Force contingents to a joint operation were practiced at the first stage of the war games," the statement reads.
The CSTO Rapid Reaction Force multinational command decided on Wednesday to conduct a joint operation to contain an armed conflict in order to preserve sovereignty, protect the constitutional system and restore territorial integrity of a mock CSTO state and began to actually perform it, the secretariat said.
"At the same time at the Strugi Krasnye firing range in the Pskov region military contingents and units of the CSTO Rapid Reaction Force special operations forces are brought to an area of holding a joint operation and are preparing for the performance of tasks to contain an armed conflict and destroy irregular armed units, bring vitally important facilities in the responsibility zone under guarding, fulfill actions to eliminate the aftermath of emergency situations, organize operational search and special measures and conduct the combat coordination of the Rapid Reaction Force multinational contingent," the statement reads.
For combat coordination a complex, dynamic, maximally close to combat tactical situation with actions of a simulated enemy being mocked is created, the statement said.
"The standards of marching, tactical, special tactical, engineering and combat training will be practiced, live-fire exercises will be held, organic and attached units will have trainings for fire control, deployment of artillery units in combat order in motion will be drilled, hitting of facilities of the simulated enemy, operational regrouping after the performance of the assigned tasks will be practiced," it said.
Units of the CSTO Rapid Reaction Force special operations forces will drill training aspects of containing an armed conflict and destroying irregular armed units, bringing vitally important facilities in the responsibility zone under guarding, operational search and special actions of the special operations forces and the elimination of the aftermath of emergency situations at the second stage of the war games on Thursday.
