Two Donetsk residents killed in shelling

DONETSK. Aug 28 (Interfax) - Donetsk authorities have reported two fatalities in shelling in the Donetsk Petrovskyi district.

"Two people were killed in Donetsk today. The Petrovskyi district was shelled from the side of Maryinka last night," Donetsk Mayor Igor Martynov told reporters on Friday.

He said the resettlement of Donetsk residents from endangered territories continued.

"This is an ongoing process. We have already resettled about 1,500 Donetsk residents from endangered areas. We have 13 tenants left in the Vtoraya Ploshchadka community and they bluntly refuse to evacuate. We will help them as much as we can," he said.

About ten schools will not open in Donetsk on September 1: these are schools that are still being repaired or are located close to the frontline, he said.

"About ten schools will not open in Donetsk frontline areas, the Kirovskyi, Petrovskyi, Kuibyshevskyi and Kyivskyi districts," Martynov said.

According to deputy chief of staff of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) militia Igor Yashchenko, the Ukrainian army conducted about 20 attacks on LPR militia positions in the past three days.

"Most shelling incidents occurred near the Prince Ihor Monument. This area is shelled by infantry combat vehicles and various types of mortars from the side of Stanytsia Luhanska," Yashchenko said.

The situation in the LPR militia's zone of responsibility "remains complicated and tense," he said. "According to intelligence data, the enemy continues to demonstrate a readiness to begin hostilities by deploying an increasing number of armaments and military hardware to the contact line. It is also trying to exhibit the efficiency of its troops and holds regular combat drills and cohesion practices," Yashchenko said.

Deployment of weapons to the contact line is a direct violation of the Minsk agreements, he said.

"Militia units, including crews of combat vehicles, are regularly practicing to improve their professional competencies and combat skills
