Ukrainian military violate ceasefire 15 times in a day - DPR

MOSCOW. Aug 30 (Interfax) - In a day the Armed Forces of Ukraine fired at the territory of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) 15 times, the Donetsk agency reported on Sunday quoting the DPR Defense Ministry.

According to the ministry, some districts of Donetsk and the communities of Spartak, Sakhanka and Zaitseve came under fire from the Ukrainian side.

"The fire effect at peaceful communities of the republic came from the communities of Opytne, Pisky, Avdiivka, Marinka, Shyrokyne and Novhorodske," the ministry reported.

Meanwhile, senior DPR Defense Ministry official Eduard Basurin told reporters that the Ukrainian military opened fire at the Donetsk chemical plant.

"Given the observation by the sides of the ceasefire commitments starting with September 1 we register a decline in the number of violations. There were 15 violations in a day. The towns of Oktyabrsky, Alexandrovka, Sakhanka, the Donetsk chemical plant and the area of Donetsk airport came under attack. Four mortars flew to the Donetsk chemical plant where a fire broke out," Basurin said.

He said that the DPR intelligence continues registering the movements of Ukrainian troops. "Novoluhanske - the deployment of two battalions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces of up to 800 people and Aidar battalion of up to 500 people. Novobakhmutovka - the stationing of Dnepr-1 battalion of up to 70 people in a school building," he said.

Basurin urged the Ukrainian army to observe the ceasefire on September 1.

Previously the Donetsk news agency was told by the district and city administrations of DPR that the night had not been marred by hostilities.
