Putin congratulates Vietnam on independence anniversary, expresses confidence in solidity of strategic Russia-Vietnam partnership

MOSCOW. Sept 2 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated his Vietnamese counterpart Truong Tan Sang on the 70th anniversary of the country's independence, the Kremlin press service said in a report.

"The Russian head of state has highly valued Vietnam's success in socio-economic, scientific and technical development, as well as its strong position in the global arena," the report said.

The press service states that "Putin has also emphasized the friendly and constructive nature of Russia-Vietnam relations, which was absolutely confirmed at the recent meeting with the Vietnamese president that took place in Moscow during the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War."

"The Russian President expressed confidence that the implementation of agreements reached at the meeting will serve to further strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, and contribute to maintaining peace and security in the Asia-Pacific region," the report said.
