Russian embassy official summoned to Moldovan Foreign Ministry over Russian attache's presence at parade in Tiraspol

CHISINAU. Sept 4 (Interfax) - Moldovan Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Natalia Gherman has described the presence of a Russian military attache at a recent military parade in Transdniestria as unacceptable.

"We expressed our concerns about this situation and pointed out that such actions were unacceptable. Such actions do not fit the framework of relations between Moldova and Russia and go against statements on Russia's official policy in relation to Moldova," Gherman said at a press conference on Friday.

"In the run up to the ceremonies that took place in Tiraspol on September 2, a note had been sent out to all diplomatic missions in Moldova to warn them that the presence of embassy officials at these events was undesirable. Contrary to this, the Russian military attache attended the military parade in Tiraspol," Gherman said.

In this context, a Russian embassy official was invited to the Moldovan Foreign Ministry on September 3, she said.

Moldovan Defense Minister Anatol Salaru said on Thursday that he had urged the Foreign Ministry to demand explanations from the Russian ambassador to Chisinau regarding the Russian military attache's presence at the parade on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the unrecognized Transdniestrian Moldovan Republic's establishment.
