Probe started against ex-chief of secretariat of self-proclaimed Donetsk republic's people's council
MOSCOW. Sept 5 (Interfax) - The state security ministry of the self-proclaimed Donetsk people's republic (DPR) has started an investigation into a number of unlawful actions by Oleksiy Oleksandrov, the chief of the secretariat of the DPR people's council, the Donetsk news agency reported with reference to the state security ministry.
"The state security ministry blocked DPR people's council secretariat chief Oleksiy Oleksandrov's entry to the DPR because of his destructive activities posing a threat to the republic's security," the ministry said in a statement.
Oleksandrov recently attempted to enter the DPR but was barred from doing so by the DPR border guards, the Donetsk news agency reported.
"At the same time, Purhin [Andriy Purhin, who was the people's council speaker at the time] and a group of deputies, enjoying their parliamentary immunity, facilitated Oleksandrov's illegal border crossing and are currently helping him hide from justice agencies. An investigation is under way into these facts," the ministry said.
