Moldovan protestors to deliver petition demanding president's resignation at meeting with PM at 5 p.m
CHISINAU. Sept 6 (Interfax) - Protestors in central Chisinau have approved a resolution of the Great National Assembly, the document will be delivered to Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet at the protestors' meeting with government members at 5 pm. on Sunday.
In it, protestors are demanding early parliamentary elections no later than March 2016; equal conditions for free elections; the resignation of President Nicolae Timofti and election of a new one by national popular vote; de-politicization of law enforcement authorities; the return of the one billion euro stolen from three commercial banks with the authorities' tacit approval; the resignation of senior officials of the National Bank, the Prosecutor General's Office and other government agencies; banning current Moldovan leaders from traveling to the United States and the European Union; conducting reforms and putting Moldova back on the path of European integration..
Lawyer Andrej Nestase who read out the resolution urged protestors not to leave but continue their protest non-stop.
"We will seek a peaceful and civilized liberation of our state seized by oligarchs," Nestase said.
The Sunday protest organized by the Demnitate si Adevar (Dignity and Justice) Civil Platform involves between 50,000 and 100,000 people.
