Ukraine denies recognition of Donbas elections - NSDC Secretary
KYIV. Sept 9 (Interfax) - Ukraine will never recognize the elections that are planned by the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics, Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov said.
"No way would that happen," he answered a related question in the Levy Bereg with Sonya Koshkina program.
The Minsk agreements say that elections in individual districts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions are possible only after conditions for holding the election campaign by Ukrainian laws are created. "This has not happened. Yet they have decided to hold elections on October 18 and in early November," Turchynov said.
He claimed that the DPR and the LPR were only talking about the peace process but, in fact, did not honor the Minsk agreements.
