Baltic Fleet air defense crews to fire Tor missiles in Astrakhan region

MOSCOW. Sept 9 (Interfax-AVN) - Crews of the Baltic Fleet coastal forces' air defense regiment have boarded a military transport plane to travel to the Kapustin Yar range in the Astrakhan region.

"At the state range, the servicemen will fire Tor air defense missiles at targets imitating aircraft of a simulated enemy. Air defense crews will be tasked to destroy air targets both from fortified emplacements and during a brief stop of a marching column," says a report of the Western Military District press service seen by Interfax-AVN on Wednesday.

The live fire drill will involve over 100 servicemen and more than 20 pieces of special hardware and armaments.

"These live fire exercises at the Kapustin Yar range are a scheduled combat training, to be held in the period from September 14 till 26, 2015," the report said.
