The command posts of the armies and formations being inspected have been deployed in field conditions. They are controlling the redeployment of troops and fortification equipment in assembly areas and preparing weapons and equipment for execution of tasks during the inspection.
"Communications units provide continuous command signal across the whole theater of operations of the army formations," reads the press release.
The surprise inspection of combat readiness of the CMD troops and forces began on Monday at the behest of Russian Armed Forces Supreme Commander-in-Chief Vladimir Putin. The forces of the CMD and the other Military Districts, the Airborne Troops and Military-Transport Aviation have been put on high alert. The inspection involves around 95,000 troops, over 7,000 weapons and pieces of military hardware and about 170 aircraft. The inspection will last until September 12.
