Ukrainian army chief of staff, U.K. chief of joint operations discuss further defense cooperation

KYIV. Sept 9 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian Armed Forces' Chief of the General Staff Viktor Muzhenko met with British officials on Tuesday to discuss defense cooperation prospects, including army training and operation planning.

"We discussed further prospects for our military cooperation, in particular, course-training of our forces, operation planning, as well as the summarizing and analysis of our combat experience," Muzhenko wrote on Facebook on Tuesday.

He said that on Tuesday he met with the newly appointed British Ambassador to Ukraine Judith Gough and the Chief of Joint Operations of the British Armed Forces, Lt. Gen. John Lorimer.

This meeting is testament to "the extremely high level of attention from British political leaders" towards the events in eastern Ukraine and London's support for Ukraine, Muzhenko said.
