Coal production in Kemerovo region in Jan-Aug falls 1%

MOSCOW. Sept 10 (Interfax) - The Kemerovo region produced 136 million tonnes of coal in January-August 2015, the regional administration's press service said.

In the 8M 2014, 137.3 million tonnes of coal were produced in the region. So production fell by 1% this year.

In particular, 40.1 million tonnes of coking coal were produced in January-August 2014 against 39 million tonnes a year earlier (growth of 2.8%).

According to the statement, since the start of this year, 132.2 million tonnes of coal have been shipped to consumers. In 8M 2014, 136.1 million tonnes of coal were shipped, so shipments fell by 3% this year.

In August, 18 million tonnes of coal were produced in the Kemerovo region, including 5.5 million tonnes of coking coal. Shipments amount to 17 million tonnes, including exports of 9.7 million tonnes.

Coal in storage amounted to 7.9 million tonnes.
