Dixy accelerates sales growth to 12.9% in Aug

MOSCOW. Sept 15 (Interfax) - The Dixy group increased revenue by 12.9% year-on-year to 21.9 billion rubles in August, the Russian retailer said in a statement.

The retailer's sales growth in August accelerated from 11.6% in July.

Dixy's revenue grew by 20.2% to 174.6 billion rubles in the first eight months of 2015.

The chain of Dixy neighborhood stores, the retailer's main format, in August quickened the growth of revenue to 14.6% from 12.5% in July. Sales volume in August was 17.8 billion rubles. For the 8M the chain's revenue rose by 22.6% to 141.2 billion rubles.

The chain of Victoria supermarkets in August increased sales by 5.5% (in July growth was 7.3%), to 2.05 billion rubles. In January-August, revenue of the supermarkets rose by 11.8% to 17.2 billion rubles.

The sales of the compact hypermarkets Megamart and Minimart in the last month rose by 5.5% to 1.46 billion rubles, for the 8M by 9.6% to 11.9 billion rubles.

For the first eight months of 2015, the company opened 368 stores (net, with account of closures) against 203 in the same period of last year. In August the retailer opened 54 stores against 37 a year earlier. In particular, in August two Victoria supermarkets were opened, and in the 8M, six supermarkets were opened, the remaining openings were Dixy neighborhood stores.

The trading space of the retailer's stores rose by 27% to 857,194 square meters at the end of August.

Dixy manages Dixy neighborhood stores and the Minimart and Megamart compact hypermarkets. In June 2011, Dixy purchased the Victoria Group, which includes the Victoria supermarkets, the Kvartal, Deshevo and Semeynaya Kopilka discount stores, and the CASH cash & carry store.

At the end of August the company had 2,563 stores including 2,427 Dixy neighborhood stores.

For the year the company is expecting to increase sales by 16%-20% (the previous forecast was 20%-25%, but it was reduced at the end of August).
