DUSHANBE. Sept 16 (Interfax) - Rustam Amakiyev, commander of the Alpha special operations unit of the Tajik State Committee for National Security, has been killed in the police operation against the group of insurgent Gen. Abduhalim Nazarzoda underway in Ramit Gorge, a source in the republican law enforcement authorities told Interfax on Wednesday.

Amakiyev and his subordinates came under the fire of Nazarzoda's followers in Pokrud on Tuesday night, the source said. Amakiyev and a Tajik Interior Ministry Forces serviceman were killed in the shootout. Another two officers of the Tajik Interior Ministry OMON forces were injured, their condition is serious.
